New Orleans Ex-Mayor Heads to Jail

You might remember New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin's fight to save his city during the chaotic years after Hurricane Katrina. Now, he's headed to prison convicted of Katrina-related corruption.

The 58 year old Democrat was convicted on bribery, money laundering and other charges of corruption in February. His crimes include accepting money and free trips from contractors, as well as accepting free granite for his family business. Nagin was convicted of taking over $160,000 in bribes in exchange for promoting the interest of a local businessman who secured millions of dollars in city contracts. The judge sentenced him to 10 years.

Nagin denies any wrong doing. His lawyers are set to file an appeal of his conviction.

Nagin has steered clear of politics since he left office. He describes himself as an author, public speaker and "green energy entrepreneur". He wrote a self published memoir called "Kartina's Secrets: Storm After the Storm".
