NCIS: 200 Episodes and Counting

Jethro Gibbs, Abby Sciuto, Ziva David, Tony DiNozzo
For the 200th episode of "NCIS," the show went a little "Wonderful Life," a little "Christmas Carol" and a little "Quantum Leap," as Agent Gibbs is shot in his favorite diner and before the bullet reaches him, real time freezes and Gibbs gets to look at his life.

A successful 'JAG' spin-off features criminal cases involving Navy and Marine personnel, handled by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). Here's a list of the current cast:

Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, (Mark Harmon)
The lead actor on NCIS is a real life hero who risked his life to save two teenage boys who were involved in a car accident outside of his home. Harmon used a sledge hammer from his garage to break the window out of their car then pulled them free so they wouldn't be burned to death, while his wife Pam Dawber called 911. He made every effort to downplay his role in saving their lives.

Gibbs joined the United States Marine Corps in 1976. he retired from the Marine Corps with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. He is a dead shot marksman. He joined NIS, which later became NCIS, after his wife Shannon and only daughter Kelly were murdered in 1991. Gibbs later travelled to Mexico and murdered the drug dealer responsible, a crime he kept concealed for twenty years. Since then, he has been married and divorced three times, and is currently single. He is often shown in his basement building boats.

Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo,  (Michael Weatherly)
Michael's less-than-auspicious start in show business included a one-episode fill-in spot as Theo's roommate on "The Cosby Show."
He says "I did okay, but they never invited me back ... it was a one shot deal." Luckily, his gig on NCIS lasted quite a bit longer.

Tony DiNozzo comes from a wealthy family but was disowned by his father. He is a flirt, and has had his fair share of success in that department. He has a fondness for playing pranks on his co-workers.There is a great deal of romantic tension between Tony and Ziva. Despite his playboy manner and lighthearted nature, DiNozzo is frequently shown to be very sharp. Like Gibbs, has a limited patience for the scientific method and technical terms. DiNozzo is perhaps best known for his seemingly-endless film references; Ziva insists that his dying words will be "I've seen this film".

Special Agent Timothy McGee, (Sean Murray)
McGee was trained in biomedical engineering at Johns Hopkins University, and computer forensics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He also graduated the top of his class at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.
McGee is also a writer, writing mystery crime novels including a national best seller, Deep Six, under the pseudonym Thom E. Gemcity (an anagram of his name), featuring characters based on his fellow co-workers and others from his everyday life. He also drives a silver Porsche Boxster as seen in the episode "Twisted Sister". He has Apple's iPhone smart phone, and uses it frequently on investigation. He owns a dog named Jethro.

Chief Medical Examiner Ducky Mallard, (David McCallum)
Dr. Mallard is a Scottish-born doctor, who underwent medical education at the University of Edinburgh Medical School, and served in the Royal Army Medical Corps. He has a "second talent", as Gibbs calls it, to be able to read people, which he expands in season four by studying psychology. In cases without actual bodies, he assists by using his psychological training to decipher the clues left by the perpetrators. Dr. Mallard is an eccentric character who often talks to the deceased. Ducky and Gibbs have worked together for many years with Ducky easily have been identified as Gibbs' closest and best friend.

Forensics Specialist Abby Sciuto, Pauley Perrette
Worked at a local funeral home in New Orleans, Louisiana all four years of high school. Both her parents were deaf.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Materials analysis, ballistics, computer science, blood and tissue analysis, American Sign Language [ASL], perfume making, ground penetrating radar operator, DNA analysis, reptile and rodent pet care.
Abby dresses in "Goth" attire, including numerous piercings, tattoos, body jewelry and wears homemade perfume that smells of gunpowder. She also appears to fear direct contact with sunlight.

Special Agent Ziva David, Cote de Pablo
Born in Santiago, Chile and raised in Miami, Florida. She attended  Carnegie Mellon University. She graduated in 2000 after studying music theater.
Ziva formerly held the post of Mossad Liaison Officer to NCIS, to which she was appointed following the murder of Special Agent Caitlin Todd by a rogue Mossad operative named Ari Haswari. Ziva was Ari's control officer and half-sister. After Agent Todd's death, she requested a liaison assignment to NCIS, where she subsequently joined Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs' team. At the end of season six, Ziva falls under suspicion as a spy for the Mossad.
Her specialty with the Mossad was espionage, assassination and terrorism and is highly trained in the martial arts. She speaks Hebrew, English, Arabic, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Russian and Turkish. Despite being fluent in English, she sometimes misinterprets idioms and phrases that have different meanings in other languages if translated directly; this is a running joke within the series. Ziva is very skilled with a knife and has been shown teaching her colleagues how to throw it properly. She is the one person Gibbs trusts with any type of firearm in difficult, potentially hazardous, situations. In her career, she has traveled extensively to countries including Egypt (where she met Jenny Shepard), Iraq, the United Kingdom and Morocco. In the season seven episode "Good Cop, Bad Cop" Ziva became a probationary NCIS Special Agent after she terminated her links with Mossad for good.

 Director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll)
He is named Director after the death of Jenny Shepard. It has been revealed in the episode "Knockout" that he was originally from Ohio, but grew up in Chicago where he trained to be a boxer. In this episode, his wife stated that Vance attended the United States Naval Academy and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Marine Corps, but was forced to take a medical discharge before ever serving due to having undergone surgery to repair a detached retina suffered during his boxing career.
Vance is also a recurring character on the NCIS spin-off, NCIS Los Angeles.

Kreighton and Janel Green

I love this show and have watched the reruns until I almost know all the words. I have to dedicate this article to my favorite daughter-in-law Janel who has sat through show after show with me over many months. She deserves a NCIS merit badge!

(The guy peeping over her should is my son, EQ's webmaster.)

I'd like to thank my favorite mother in-law for the dedication. As I type this I bet there is a NCIS re-run on at this very moment.
