Recruiting and Rebranding: The "New" Ku Klux Klan

The KKK is Recuriting and Rebranding.  They are calling for White America to "wake up".

In South Carolina, the local Klan is using candy and the slogan “ Save our land. Join the Klan". Robert Jones, the Imperial Klaliff of the sect, the Loyal White Knights, told FOX Carolina that Saturday was one of three yearly night rides in which Klan members distribute literature overnight. According to FOX, the leader called his group a civil rights organization, not a hate group. The “Klan Hotline” was dialed by a reporter, and among other things a male voice said on the voice mail recording, the message ended with, “always remember: if it ain’t white, it ain’t right. White power.”

KKK literature recently surfaced in Lake Butler, a small Florida town. Flyers wrapped in plastic and containing candy were thrown on yards in the town during the night. The flyer called for “White America (to) Wake Up” and contained incarceration rates by racial groups, Black, Hispanic and White.

Sheriff’s officials in the Atlanta area are investigating whether any laws were broken when fliers inviting residents to join the Ku Klux Klan were placed outside homes and car loans for bad credit companies. Newton County sheriff’s Deputy Courtney Morrison says the fliers are being reviewed to make sure they don’t contain any inappropriate information or threats. The Newton Citizen reports that the fliers included a drawing of a robed klansman standing in front of a tree with writing that said, “Join the KKK — Loyal White Knights.”

Colorado Springs-area residents collected their mail this weekend unprepared for the shocking invitation that would await them. Pleas to join the Ku Klux Klan were taped to mailboxes across the neighborhood in El Paso County, intended to target racial minorities in the area. The El Paso County Sherriff’s Office has teamed up the U.S. Postal Inspectors to investigate the mail distribution which is being considered a violation of federal law.

Members of the Ku Klux Klan in Springfield, Mo. surprised some local residents with flyers in their front yard promoting a Klan-sponsored neighborhood watch program. The flyer, which shows an image of a masked and hooded Klansman, was made in attempt to recruit members of the community to launching a neighborhood watch program.

“Are there troubles in your neighborhood? Contact the Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan today!” it says. “You can sleep tonight knowing the Klan is awake!”

About half a dozen other flyers were discovered around homes in the area. KY3 contacted the number listed on the flyer and talked to a representative who said that the group’s goal is to recruit members to the neighborhood watch groups “to help police fight crime.”

In a recent opinion post in The Grio, Michael Arceneaux addresses the KKK’s efforts to rebrand their image to recruit new members. “Are you ready for the kinder, gentler Ku Klux Klan? You see the KKK is trying to do an image overhaul. They don’t want you to think of them as the cross-burning, black people murdering, hate group they’ve proven themselves to be since inception. No, no, they’ve “evolved” now. “

Speaking with The Huffington Post, Pastor Travis Pierce tried to argue that the Ku Klux Klan has a new “positive” message. He says nowadays the Klan’s mission is to defend and represent white people, hold up the constitution, and deny gay teachers access to public schools. They plan to do this through legal means. Pierce says that “speechifying” or protesting doesn’t get the job done anymore. This “new direction” is all about advancing the white race through legal means. The new KKK still wants to use the government to create policies that solely benefit white people.

Membership for the KKK and a number of other “patriot groups” have reported increases according to reports by the Southern Law Poverty Center. When you take a close look at the old and the “new”, you won’t be able to tell any differences. Same old stuff, different day!
