The Oscars: Lights, Camera, Action

The nominations are in; the red carpet is ready; all of Hollywood is buzzing. Who will come home with an "Oscar"?Well, the suspense will be over on Sunday, February 26, 2012 when the 84th Annual Academy Awards ceremony is held and the winners are announced. Mounds of information is circulating about the current nominees, but I want to know do you remember winners from the last decade? Take a walk down memory lane and revisit some memorable moments as each year's Best Picture was announced. May I have the envelope please?

2010-The King's Speech

Colin Firth won for best actor and Geoffrey Rush won a nomination for best supporting actor.

2009-The Hurt Locker
The film won 6 Oscars and Kathryn Bigelow became the first woman to win the Best Director Oscar. Jeremy Renner was nominated in the best actor category.

Michael Jordan Engaged

NBA legend Michael Jordan is reportedly engaged to longtime girlfriend and Cuban-born model Yvette Prieto. A spokeswoman confirmed the news that Jordan popped the question on Christmas Day. Prieto is 32 years old, while Jordan is 48. The couple has been dating for more than three years.

If you grew up in Chicago and faithfully followed the Chicago Bulls, you'll always love Michael Jordan. Folks have been heard saying "I want to be like Mike" as they remember the spectacular performances he gave his fans. He kept the championship rings and the big bucks, but the fans got to keep the thrills and excitment of every winning game. I can still hear the all of Chicago bragging on "Da Bulls" and its super star.



Jordan is the current owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, and can often be seen on the sideline of Bobcats games with Prieto. There is no announcement for a wedding date.


This would be Jordan's second marriage. He was married for 17 years to Juanita Jordan. The couple divorced in 2006 and settled for a reported amount of $168 million. They have two sons, Jeffrey Michael and Marcus James, and a daughter, Jasmine.
